Every home health and hospice organization needs to remember that a board is a team of people accomplishing a thing, says Hildy Gottlieb. And her advice for adding a new member to that team is to divide your criteria into three buckets. Your goal is to find a person who has 1) all of the qualities every board member must have, 2) some qualities your board believes would be nice to have, and 3) none of the qualities you never want to see.
